01

Project background

Large service-area material pressure

Haishu District in Ningbo is densely populated, with residents, shops, and office buildings generating large daily volumes of plastic bottles, paper, metals, glass, and other recyclables. These materials are collected at the Haishu District Urban plastic sorting reference for centralized sorting, classified storage, and standardized transfer. Waste plastic bottles make up a high-volume stream with varied material types, while manual sorting can struggle with accuracy, efficiency, and consistent classification standards. The project therefore required intelligent sorting equipment to improve refined plastic bottle separation and strengthen the district recycling loop. GL01V2-9 supports this process through AI recognition, optical identification, and air-jet ejection for higher-consistency recyclable plastic recovery.

Cooperation unit

Operating unit and site context

Operating unit and site context (宁波供销再生资源科技有限公司), operator of the Dabashou recycling system, is a Ningbo-based circular-economy platform founded in August 2018. Its strength comes from a city-scale smart classification and green recycling network, with thousands of front-end recovery points, digital management across collection, transport, sorting, and disposal, plus regional sorting and bulky-waste resource-treatment centers that support large-volume recyclable handling.

Real constraints

Compact layout requirement

Land in Ningbo's urban districts is scarce, with high rental, construction, and site expansion costs. The sorting center had limited operating space, while traditional multi-machine and split-line sorting systems would require a larger footprint and higher retrofit investment. At the same time, detailed plastic bottle sorting by hand was labor-intensive, slow, and limited in category coverage. Inconsistent purity reduced the value of recovered recycled feedstock and constrained the overall resource utilization benefit.

Solution

Configured sorting scope

The sorting center introduced the GL01V2-9 intelligent Super Optical Sorter as the core separation unit. Its compact equipment layout occupies only 600 m², fitting the site's limited operating area while significantly reducing land-use pressure. The machine uses a high-precision spectral recognition system to classify waste plastic bottles into up to nine categories, replacing large amounts of manual fine sorting with automated high-speed separation. This matched the district center's daily recyclable handling scale, improved plastic sorting accuracy and efficiency, and increased the resource utilization value of recovered materials.

Results

Recovered output records

BeforeSpace-Heavy, Labor-Driven, Low-Capacity Sorting

Traditional manual sorting required more operating space, created a dirtier and less orderly work area, depended heavily on labor, and delivered limited daily capacity with inconsistent fine classification.

After600 m² AI Sorting with Precision and Live Data

GL01V2-9 reduced the total occupied area to 600 m², raised automation levels, delivered precise recognition for up to nine bottle categories, improved sorting efficiency, and supported real-time operating statistics for a wider service area and larger beneficiary population.
